By coloring in different situations, students will be able to see how a chemical property can change matter so that it can't be returned to its original form. This is a great resource for any teacher looking to help their students learn about chemistry. This Chemical Properties of Matter Worksheet is a great way for students to review their knowledge about chemical properties. Whether you are looking for a review, an introduction, or an informal assessment, this worksheet will serve that purpose! What You Get: This is a 2-page printable PDF. The first page is the worksheet. The second page is the answer key. How to Implement This Chemical Properties of Matter Worksheet: A chemical property can only be observed by changing the chemical identity of a substance. (The matter is never destroyed...particles are only rearranged.) Examples of chemical properties are ability to corrode (rust), ability to explode, and ability to burn. Changes in these chemical properties can be observed by changes in color, odor, production of gases or solids, and absorbing or releasing energy. This worksheet is perfect for elementary students who are learning about chemical properties of matter. This worksheet will help them practice and improve their skills. Students will color the phrases that illustrate an example of a chemical property having been changed so that it cannot be returned to its original form. Then students will discuss the chemical properties and changes that have occurred. Students will need to identify 8 changes out of 11 options presented. You may choose to have students complete the first step independently. When it comes time to discuss, students can work with a partner or a small group to talk about the changes. The Chemical Properties of Matter Worksheet is also great as homework or an informal assessment.
