This is a writing sentences activity where students find the mistakes in the sentences given. This resource includes a Proofreading Marks Reference Sheet. You could easily make copies and give one to each student. Not only is it helpful for this assignment, but they can use it all year long. There are 10 sentences written with spelling and grammar errors. I allow my students to use red pen to show their editing marks. They could do this on the sentences provided. They then will rewrite the each correctly. It could be completed whole group as a mini lesson. Or, it could be used as an extension to something you already do. It could be extra practice, or it could even be a quick assessment . Do you want your students to finding errors in sentences? Then this product will help. This activity could be introduced in 2nd grade, and it could be extra practice in grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. Correcting sentences is an important skill for students to know. Giving them practice with sentences will help them become better at it.

Social Skills Stories & Activities use explicit language to break down information into small, manageable steps, so that children can more easily understand what they should and should not do in a particular social situation, and why. So many of my students pick their noses in front of others. This can make other students not want to be around that them, or not want to share materials with them. I wrote this story to try to help my students better understand why they shouldn't pick their nose in front of others.

Word Search puzzles are so much fun, and a great learning activity to add to your classroom. These word searches are themed, month to month, and are EDITABLE so that you can get a ton of use out of them and differentiate them for many learners. Use one of the blank word searches to write the words of your choice in the locations you wish. Next, delete the filler letters and add your words in the desired location on the editable word search. If you wish to change this word search from time to time, simply move the words around and scramble up the letters a bit. For older students, include forward, backward, diagonals, going up and down words. You may want to use some of the less common words from the suggested words list and or add your own that may be related to your curriculum. For younger or special groups of students, you may chose easier words and place them in easier locations such as left to right, on the end of the puzzle, or not sharing any letters(crossing over each other). These fun word searches are great to pull out each month to recognize the current holiday or season. Word searches are a wonderful way to expand vocabulary. Go through the word lists and make sure your students know what each word means. Another fun way to use these word searches is to have students make them for each other. Just give them a blank template and have them place their words first, then fill in the other boxes with miscellaneous letters. Be sure they keep track of their words.

Teaching critical social emotional skills while getting kids to enjoy writing during the early elementary years is key. One way we can do that is to tie in their interests to the writing process. Practicing self-control takes time, and one of the ways we can set up safe spaces for our learners to think through the consequences of certain actions is by role playing and creating stories. This resource (and the others that complement it in this series!) seeks to provide the scaffolding needed for learners to imagine and begin telling a story in written form. Then they're invited into 5 different STEAM extension activities to keep the conversations going. Thinking about the way we think is a foundational skill for growing the executive functions our kiddos will use in the editing process.
