Write An Article For GCSE English (14-16 years)
ELA, Writing, Grade 7, 8, 9, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

This resource concentrates on one aspect of writing at GCSE (14-16 years). The student should work their way through all the work packs at their own speed. There are 12 in this series. Take the advice on board and we guarantee that students will gain a grade C or above in their GCSE English Language exam. The examples contained within each resource will give the student ideas to build on and provide practice to develop their writing skills. The examples will show the student the standard of work they need to reach to do well in their exam. They will learn how to tackle a question to get those higher marks. GCSE English Writing work packs include: Practice in writing for different purposes and to reach different audiences Practice in writing from different points of view, including articles, blogs, brochures and leaflets Practice in different ways to set out an argument (PEE or PEA). They will also examine language techniques. This series provides a clear, concise revision guide to boost grade, written by a teacher and tutor who is familiar with the requirements of the new GCSE examination. It is so simple that the student can use it for last minute revision. The skills and requirements for the GCSE English language exam are very specific: retrieving information from texts, inference, analysis of language, presentational techniques and comparing texts are some of the skills needed. For writing, students are required to engage the reader and produce a response, which relates to the purpose and audience. This book teaches students how to write using different purposes to inform, explain, argue, advise, describe, persuade, review and how to make the tone and register of their writing suitable for the audience. It emphasises the P.E.E or P.E.T.E.R technique, so students have a blue print (format) to work from; make POINT, give EVIDENCE, comment on TECHNIQUE, EFFECT and RESPONSE. This helps students to develop analytical skills for non-fiction tasks and responses in English literature papers. The students are also taught to use rhetorical techniques groups of three, speaking directly to the reader, rhetorical questions, inclusive pronouns as well as stylistic devices like similes, metaphors and high level vocabulary. The aim of this series is: To help every child gain a grade C in GCSE English. To outline the requirements of the present GCSE course and to teach students to structure and organise a piece of writing. To teach students to look for key words in a task and to plan a suitable response. To teach students to use linguistic and stylistic devices. To show them how to use rhetorical techniques. Lifestyle Creep: Personal Finance Worksheets and Financial Literacy

Lifestyle Creep: Personal Finance Worksheets and Financial Literacy
Life Studies, Math, Money, Finance, Home Economics, Grade 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Lifestyle Creep: Personal Financial Literacy Lesson about Spending Carefully This engaging personal finance lesson highlights the key principle of successful financial planning - 'Always spend less than you earn!'. It demonstrates financial concepts through practical and relatable examples, including a comparison between a high-income earner and lower-income earner: you might be surprised who is doing better financially! How to Use: First, a handout introduces two characters- Raya, who earns $5000 monthly but saves $50 each month; contrasted with Lucien, an affluent lawyer who makes $20,000 monthly but overspends by $50 each month. These personas bring vital insights into the consequences of prudent versus extravagant financial habits over time. Next. the concept of "Lifestyle Creep" is introduced. It is when your standard of living permanently increases when your income does: things that used to be luxuries become everyday expectations. For example, acquiring new ski gear prompts related expenses like annual ski passes or one-time investments like car ski rack installations. Then, students brainstorm common items of Lifestyle Creep that Lucien may have incorporated into his daily expectations. Finally, they practice noticing and calculating Lifestyle Creep with two real world examples: moving to a bigger apartment or adopting a pet. A complete answer key is also included to eliminate any guesswork! Grades to Use With: This lesson is designed for high school students in grades 8-12 in Career and Personal Planning, finance, applied math, life skills, or high school special education classes. It could also be used for grade 7 enrichment. What's Included: This ready-to-go lesson is an easy to print PDF that includes a two-page handout, two pages of practice activities, and an answer key. Cyberbullying (2011): Complete Movie Guide, Discussion Q's, and Case Studies

Cyberbullying (2011): Complete Movie Guide, Discussion Q's, and Case Studies
P.E. & Health, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Almost every student in our class is using social media on a daily basis. Cyberbullying is one of those problems that is rarely addressed at schools. I created this product to help my students learn about the causes and devastating effects of cyberbullying. The movie follows a teenage girl named Taylor Hillridge, played by actress Emily Osment, who is excited to receive a new laptop for her birthday. She creates a profile on a social media site called "Cliquester" and quickly gains popularity among her classmates. However, things take a turn for the worse when Taylor becomes the target of cyberbullying. She receives hurtful messages and comments on her profile, and her classmates start to turn against her. Taylor's best friend, Samantha, helps her to try and identify the cyberbully, but they are unsuccessful. The situation escalates, and Taylor's mental health begins to suffer as a result of the constant harassment. Throughout the movie, we see the devastating effects of cyberbullying on Taylor's life, including her relationships with her family and friends. The movie aims to raise awareness about the dangers of cyberbullying and the importance of seeking help if you or someone you know is experiencing it. In the end, Taylor reaches out to a support group for victims of cyberbullying and begins to heal from the trauma she has experienced. The movie ends on a hopeful note, as Taylor starts to rebuild her life and realizes the importance of standing up against cyberbullying. This product comes with 20 movie questions that go along with ABC Family's movie called "Cyberbullying." The movie can be found on Youtube and Netflix. This product also comes with four case studies of the effects of cyberbullying on teenagers. Lastly, this product includes four small group discussion questions. Four older students, have them research a case study on cyberbullying. A simple Google search reveals - sadly - hundreds of teenagers for them to chose from. Key words: Character education, Cyberbullying, Bullying
