Acorn Counting Puzzles

This acorn themed counting puzzles center is the perfect hands on kindergarten math activity for fall or autumn. Students will have be provided a fun and hands on way to practice counting to 10 as well as skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s.

Ways to Use the Skip Counting Puzzles

• * File Folder Game -- Using hook and loop fasteners on each puzzle piece and in a file folder, students can put the puzzle in numerical order.

• * Cookie Tray Game -- Using a cookie tray and magnets on the back of each puzzle piece, students place the puzzles pieces in numerical order on each cookie tray.

• * Morning Tubs or Morning Baskets -- Place the puzzle pieces in a basket and let students complete the puzzles while everyone arrives to class.

• * Cut and Paste activity -- Students can cut apart the puzzles themselves then glue the pieces back in order on their own paper.

These counting and skip counting puzzles activity can be used in math centers, as independent practice, or in a small group setting. The puzzles focus on counting to 10 as well as skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s. The skip counting skill is important as it is a prerequisite to learning multiplication. It is a great concept to introduce in kindergarten and review at each grade level until multiplication is introduced in second grade.
