Adding & Subtracting Decimals Task Cards AND PowerPoint Slides

Here is an engaging math activity with a solar system theme for your grade 5 and grade 6 learners. So many kids enjoy learning about the solar system and these cards are packed with fun facts about our galaxy, along with word problems that will strengthen learners’ math skills. With each card, your upper elementary school learners will practice adding and subtracting decimals. They’ll compare distances from the sun, depths valleys, and heights of astronauts. One card even focuses on Ham, a space travelling chimpanzee. Sometimes word problems can be a challenging skill for learners to master. With this in mind, a corresponding set of PowerPoint slides is included with this product. The slides add one more component of versatility to the already resourceful task cards. They allow you to display each card on a screen for all learners to see and work on the skills in a large group setting. Each slide contains a duplicate image of the 20 task cards. This allows you to help your learners walk step-by-step through solving each equation while focusing on one word problem at a time. If you want to use the task cards as a stand-alone activity, there are multiple ways to do so. Make them an outdoor activity during pleasant weather, and indoor activity at learning centers, or an activity during small group learning. They fit into nearly every educational environment and engage learners beyond the basic worksheet. All cards in this product are available in a color version, as well as a black and white version. Please note that both versions are IDENTICAL. Two answer recording sheets are provided on one page to reduce the number of copies or amount of ink/toner used. An answer key is also included.
