Candy Corn Beginning Letter Sound Puzzles

These beginning sound puzzles make the perfect fall or Halloween themed phonics center. The fun candy corn theme will engage students with practicing the initial letter sounds in words.

What is Included:

This resource includes 26 unique alphabet letter sound puzzles. The puzzles come in color and in black and white.

Each puzzle contains 3 pieces. The top piece being the letter and the bottom two pieces being pictures of words that begin with that letter. The bold, easy to recognize pictures will allow students to complete these puzzles independently. Fall or Halloween themed pictures are used where available.

How to Use:

To use these puzzles, students will look at the pictures on each piece, matching them to the letter the picture begins with. Once found the pieces will be arranged to form a candy corn.

When to Use:

• Literacy centers - Simply place these puzzles inside the literacy center for the students to complete.

• Morning Tubs or Baskets - These puzzles make a great morning activity for students to work on while waiting for classmates to arrive to class.

• Early Finishers - Students can work on these puzzles while waiting on classmates to finish whole group tasks.

These beginning sounds puzzles are a low prep activity that teachers can prepare. The teacher just simply needs to print out each puzzle, cut the puzzles apart and then laminate the puzzles for durability.

Storage Ideas:

These beginning letter sound puzzles can be easily stored in a task box. By storing in a task box, teachers can easily set up the center, students can easily complete and clean up the center, and the task box makes storage a breeze! Alternative storage methods could be a pencil box, plastic bag or small basket.
