About This Product
Ready for one of the most versatile extension activities? Let's go!
This activity can be used as a warm-up to get students thinking creatively about how they might use various objects to complete a goal. This could be amplified to include a debate in which students discuss why one object is more useful than the other.
After working through these options, students will encounter a matrix in which they will put together various factors. Using the factors of their choice (a wonderful differentiation accommodation for ELL, GATE, and neurodiverse learners), the motivation for creating a presentation, piece of writing, or further conversation could be encouraged.
Consider printing out the final matrix for students to do a bit of research on the topics they are unfamiliar with!
Suggested use:
- Writing prompt generator
- Extension game for diverse language levels
- STEM or GATE classes to bring up discussions on creative problem solving
- Group collaboration exercises to encourage debate and discussion
- This activity can be used in various ways to meet the needs of diverse learners. Connecting 21st Century Skills with fun, situational elements, students will enjoy the challenge set before them.
- While this may begin as a discussion activity, it may also double as a writing prompt when students reach the final matrix activity.
- GATE and neurodiverse learners will appreciate the opportunity for choice.
- Built-in differentiation with choice and flexibility for response length and complexity.
