About This Product

Dax and Gab Beginner Reader Fry Sight Words This 12-page beginner reader booklet follows Dax and Gab on an exciting adventure while incorporating Fry sight words and blended words. At the end of the short story, there are 3 pages of comprehension exercises to enrich the reading experience. This resource helps young readers ages 5-7 strengthen sight word recognition and enhance reading skills. It is ideal for whole class instruction with follow-up small group practice. The story can be used as a weekly lesson or for targeted sight word intervention. Teachers introduce new sight words and provide direct instruction on Monday. On Tuesday students practice the words through a fun team word slap game then listen for sight words while the teacher reads aloud. On Wednesday students retell story events using the illustrations, which helps build comprehension. Thursday students echo read to develop oral reading fluency. Friday students “think-pair-share” reading the story aloud and completing the worksheet together. The lesson can be repeated over multiple weeks by focusing on different story elements and reading skills. This packet is available in full color or black and white and is designed for back-to-back printing to optimize readability and paper conservation. It is also the first in a series of four beginner reader booklets that all correlate together: Meg and Ann, Tim and Tai, Dax and Gab, Tad and Tom. An optional complete lesson plan for all four stories is included.
