First Week of School Writing Activities
About This Product
Do you want to give your students some activities at the beginning of the year to see what they're capable of? Do you want to get to know them? These two writing activities are perfect for that first week of school.
The first activity has students write about themselves. This is not in complete sentences. If you have older students and you want to see their paragraph writing ability, you could definitely have them fill this out as a graphic organizer, and then they can write the information in a paragraph. Examples of what's on this page are what subjects they are good at, what subjects they struggle with, and what they're looking forward to.
The second activity has students write about their family. This isn't meant to be a long writing piece, just a short paragraph. You could brainstorm ideas of what to write on the board together, then have them do a cold write. A cold write is good at the beginning of the year so you can see their writing ability. Since it's about their family, students will be interested in it.
You will receive a pdf with 2 pages for students to fill out. These will be a great addition to your back to school/first week of school activities!
