Use this five-page reference booklet to look up French conjugations in the present, perfect (passé composé), imperfect and future tenses.

The tables cover regarder, finir, vendre and se laver, plus twenty-three irregular verbs, including aller, avoir, être, faire, prendre and vouloir. Six pronoun groups appear for each verb and tense.

Two PDF copies of the booklet are supplied. The tables are not editable. They are intended for learners who already have some French experience.

Teaching tips & learning objectives

Learning objectives

  • Students look up the correct conjugated form of a regular or irregular French verb for a given pronoun and tense.

  • Students compare the regular -er, -ir and -re conjugation patterns against reflexive and irregular verb patterns side by side.

Teaching tips

  • Compare one tense column across several verbs.
  • Ask students to use a looked-up form in a complete sentence.
  • Group examples by the pattern being reviewed, such as endings or auxiliary choice.

Skills covered

  • French verb conjugation — students identify the correct form of 23 irregular and 4 regular/reflexive verb patterns across four tenses.

  • Tense recognition — students distinguish present, perfect (passé composé), imperfect and future forms for the same verb.

  • Regular vs. irregular pattern comparison — students compare predictable -er/-ir/-re endings against irregular stems such as être, avoir and aller.
