This resource is a set of Black History close reads. These close reads are about leaders in African American History.

These close reads can easily be made into booklets for students as it does come with a cover page. For each leader, there is a close read, comprehension questions and a writing page.

A revising and editing checklist and a peer feedback checklist are both included. Students can get feedback from a peer before or after writing about what they’ve learned about each historical figure. Students should use the revising and editing checklist before turning in their final published copy.

A rubric is also included to make grading easy and efficient. If you’d like, you can use the “Feedback From the Teacher” page to provide additional feedback for your students.
