Fraction Multiplication Word Problems, Two Practice Sheets

This file contains 2 practice sheets of 8 problems each for students to practice word problems using fractions.  Students are asked to show their thinking with models, equations, and words.  This covers the 5th grade math skill of: Solve real world problems involving multiplication of fractions and mixed numbers, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem.

Word problems require students to apply their understanding of fractions in real-world contexts. This helps deepen their conceptual understanding, moving beyond simple memorization to true comprehension of how fractions work, especially in multiplication scenarios.

By solving word problems, students learn how to use fractions in everyday situations (e.g., sharing, scaling recipes, or determining portions). This connects math to real life, making it more relevant and meaningful.
