About This Product

This Music Room Rules for classroom behavior poster focuses on the Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) reminders about classroom behavior. My school district used this tiered support system.  I recommend uploading it to your printer service and having it printed in poster size.  I used Walgreens for printing my classroom posters.  Smaller versions printed on your school or home computer can be posted in areas of traffic for reminders.

What is PBIS?

A General Overview

The main focus of Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is to provide a transparent system for all expected behaviors at a school. While many faculty, staff, and students may have assumptions of what is expected behavior, we cannot assume that everyone’s beliefs are similar. Through  PBIS, we can work together to create and maintain a productive, safe environment in which ALL school community members clearly understand the shared expectations for behavior. Implementing PBIS systems and strategies can increase student academic performance, increase safety,  decrease problem behavior and establish a positive school climate.

PBIS methods are research-based and have been proven to significantly reduce the occurrence of problem behaviors in the school. One of the keys of the system is a focus on prevention. It is based on the idea that when students are taught clearly defined behavioral expectations and provided with predictable responses to their behavior, both positive and corrective, 85-95% of them will meet those expectations.

TEACHING THE CLASSROOM RULES

Most importantly as you already know, we have to teach the Music Room Rules for Classroom Management and spend time discussing and demonstrating what each rule “looks like” in the music classroom and why we need each rule.  Having the students contribute and discuss each rule will reinforce their involvement in the best behavior in the music classroom.

I recommend uploading it to your printer service and having it printed in poster size.  I used Walgreens for printing my classroom posters.  Smaller versions printed on your school or home computer can be posted in areas of traffic for reminders.

Happy Teaching!
