Dog Breeds Domino – A Calm Coloring & Matching Game for Elementary Students This printable domino game is a quiet and creative way for students to explore different dog breeds while practicing matching skills and early reading. The cards are all black and white, so students can color them themselves – something my third graders always look forward to. It gives them a sense of ownership over the material and creates a nice break from more structured tasks. The idea is simple: each domino shows either a dog breed name or a drawing, and students have to find the correct pairs. The illustrations are clear and recognizable, even without color, so they work well for younger learners or students still developing their vocabulary. The breed names are printed in an easy-to-read font, which helps build confidence in early readers. I’ve used this activity in a few different contexts: – as a quiet task for early finishers – in small group centers – during indoor recess on rainy days – or as part of a broader unit on animals and pets It also opens up room for short, low-pressure conversations – for example, “Which one do you think is the fastest?” or “Would you want a dog like that at home?” If you work with a therapy or school dog, like I do, it’s a great way to bring that connection into the classroom without needing a full lesson plan. The file includes 20 domino cards that you can print and cut out. I recommend using heavier paper or laminating the cards if you plan to reuse them. Depending on the group, you can let students color all the cards first or wait until they’ve completed a match. Beautiful 2” x 6” standard size bookmarks with 1970s colors and designs. Colorful bookmarks that are unique like these funky, hip, modern 70s style bookmarks are a great way to encourage reading, especially in your more creative students. Printing the bookmarks, cutting them, and folding them, if you choose to make them double-sided, are also great ways to practice fine motor skills. These bookmarks are truly unique and there are 20 different designs. These bookmarks can be printed and cut for one-sided or folded for double-sided versions. Printing them on cardstock will make them last longer. You can also decorate them further by punching a hole in the top and adding a matching ribbon or other ephemera. You can also laminate them for an even longer lasting product. Bookmarks make great gifts, especially for those who love to read and for those who are highly creative. These bookmarks can be used as a creative way to encourage student interaction and as part of a unique themed center for reading. Each card features the element’s symbol, atomic number, and name – providing a clear and accessible entry point into the world of chemistry. The cards are designed to be used flexibly. You can print them twice to play Matching Pairs (also known as Memory®), where students turn over cards and try to find identical pairs. This helps improve concentration and recall while reinforcing students’ familiarity with element symbols and atomic numbers. What’s included: 118 cards (PDF format) – one for each chemical element Each card includes: element symbol, name, and atomic number Use them as a memory game (print twice) or flashcards for review Black-and-white format allows for optional color coding (e.g. element groups or states of matter) In my classroom: I’ve used this resource with grades 7–10, both during our unit on the periodic table and as a review activity. Some groups like to sort the cards by group or period before playing. Others enjoy using them competitively, seeing who can name the most elements based on symbol alone. There’s also room for differentiation: stronger students can work without a periodic table for support, while others use it alongside. The black-and-white version is copy-friendly and works well if you want students to color-code elements (e.g. metals vs. non-metals). You can also adapt the game for faster learners by having them group elements or research additional properties. This is a low-prep activity you can use again and again – whether as a center activity, partner task, or quick review before a test.
