National Picnic Day word Scramble puzzle worksheet activity

National Picnic Day Word Scramble – Outdoor Learning Fun!

I made this word scramble for my 3rd graders last year when we celebrated National Picnic Day (April 23rd). It's a simple 2-page activity with 24 picnic-related words that kids actually use - from easy ones like "food" and "basket" to trickier ones like "utensils" and "blanket."

The kids loved doing this while eating their pretend picnic lunch in the classroom. We used clipboards and sat on beach towels to make it special!

What's included:
• Page 1: The word scramble with clear, large-print words
• Page 2: An answer key for quick checking

Perfect for:

  • Picnic Day celebrations

  • Spring outdoor units

  • End-of-year activities

  • Lunchtime fun

I chose words we really talk about when planning picnics: "sandwich," "lemonade," "ant," and even "sunscreen" for safety. The kids laughed when someone unscrambled "bugspray"!

Format: Basic PDF (2 pages)
Teacher Tip: Have students circle their favorite picnic food from the list!
