How to Use:

• In the Syllable Puzzle, students answer clues using words composed of specific number of syllables they can choose from a syllable bank.

• Word Sandwich asks them to cleverly insert one word into another forming innovative combinations. There are clues given to help students get started!

• Categories prompts students to generate creative answers beginning with a certain letter for distinct subjects like countries or adjectives.

• Letter Golf lets players make real words by simply adding one letter before and after the given group of letters. They try to get the lowest score, which encourages thinking strategically about language structure.

• Untangle offers phrases that are jumbled together and need to be separated.

• Step Down has crossword puzzle clues. This first one has a a 5-letter word answer, then students drop a letter for the next clue. The final clue in each set has a 3-letter word answer.

• Match Up has students pair together two sets of three letters to make six-letter words for a common theme.

• Finally, Bull's Eye lets students use visual skills to rotate rings with letters to create 4 5-letter words for each bull's eye.

These activities are designed for students in grades 5-8 and could be especially useful for gifted students or those who need an extra challenge.
