Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
- Recognise and translate common Spanish greetings, farewells, introductions and courtesy expressions
- Choose between the informal tu form and the formal usted form when addressing a friend versus an adult
- Answer basic personal questions in Spanish using the modelled patterns (Me llamo..., Soy de..., Yo tengo # anos)
- Use supporting vocabulary for feelings and numbers to 100
Teaching tips
- The reference pages are designed to be kept - print them once for notebooks and re-copy only the matching and answering worksheets.
- The tu and usted pages are deliberately parallel, so put them side by side to teach the formality distinction rather than teaching them as separate lessons.
- The matching worksheet has a key, but the personal-answer page does not and cannot - answers vary by student, so plan to check those individually or in pairs.
- Cover the reference sheet before the matching worksheet if you want it as an assessment rather than a look-up task.
Skills covered
- Spanish greetings and farewells
- Introductions

- Spanish-English translation
