About This Product

Theater - A Mixed-up Bedtime Story: The Little Gray Wolf and Red Riding Hood is a play written with 13 parts.

The play is perfect for students in 1st-3rd grades in many types of learning environments by either reading the text out loud or acting it out. The resource includes a Teacher Guide to maximize student learning and help with teacher instruction.

In addition to the acting roles, students can assist with many responsibilities in putting on such a terrific play!

One interesting activity described in the Teacher Guide is to compare and contrast the original story of Little Red Riding Hood with this mixed-up version. Just how similar and how different are the two plays? Children will enjoy thinking about this question and sharing their ideas.

Play Summary: The play begins with a mother telling her children a bedtime story of a little gray wolf visiting her grandmother. The wolf’s mother warns him to be careful. Doesn't everyone know the woodcutter and Red Riding Hood want wolves for pets? The wolf travels along and meets many woodland animals (e.g., a frog, snake, rabbit, and chipmunk) who each offer their advice on being safe. When the wolf finally arrives at Grandmother’s, where is Red Riding Hood and will she trick him?

You’ll have to read the rest of the story to find out how the story ends. Will they live happily ever after?

Many Common Core Standards involving Reading Literature can be taught with this resource.
