About this resource
About This Product
You’ll be blown away by the detail in this set of GRASSLAND, PRAIRIE, and SAVANNAH habitat coloring pages! Each set was carefully chosen to try and highlight the different characteristics of each biome. Some are close-up and far away views. TI think you'll appreciate the wide variety of views and perspectives we chose to include. We worked hard to make sure plants and land features were included that would actually be found in each habitat. These pair wonderfully with any kind of habitat study, animal study or they can be used as the starting point for some pretty fabulous art projects including paintings. I hope you can find a creative and helpful way to incorporate these illustrations into your lessons and lives!
Note* This set of coloring pages focuses on land features and plants. There are no animals pictured in these habitats.
How to Use This:
Print and use as you study biomes and habitats. You can also use while learning about animals that live in this kind of place. Hand out coloring pencils or markers. A lighter version has also been included so that your students can have a jumping place for an art project. Have so much fun!
What You Get:
· 10 line art GRASSLAND coloring pages
· The same images provided as very light outlines so they can be used for more intricate art projects rather than just coloring pages.

Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
- Recognize visual features of grassland biomes (savannah and prairie), such as scattered trees, open grass cover, and rolling terrain.
- Use a lightened outline template as the structural base for an original art technique (e.g., watercolor, chalk pastel, collage).
- Practice fine-motor colouring skills within detailed, textured line art.
Teaching tips
- Use the standard colouring pages for a straightforward biome unit activity and save the lightened outline versions for a follow-up lesson where students add their own media (watercolor wash, oil pastel, torn-paper collage) over the faint guide lines.
- Because the scenes contain no animals, pair this set with a separate grassland-animal activity if the lesson goal is habitat-plus-inhabitants rather than landscape alone.
- The illustrations are realistic rather than cartoon style, so they suit older students or a fine-art-focused lesson better than an early-elementary colouring activity.

Questions teachers ask about this resource
What is the difference between the two versions of each scene?
The first set is full-strength black line art for standard colouring; the second set is the identical artwork with the lines lightened to a faint gray so it can serve as an underlay for a more elaborate art project.
