About this resource
Nine animal-home vocabulary worksheets provide matching, labelling, multiple choice, clue completion, word-bank practice, a table, true/false items and sentence stems. Use the pages in science or literacy lessons and discuss reasonable alternative homes.
The PDF is non-editable and has no answer key. The page labelled crossword supplies clues without a grid, and its last two ant clues repeat.

Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
Identify the correct home for ten common animals (dog, bird, cow, fish, bee, spider, lion, ant, rabbit, duck/hen).
Recall and apply the same animal-home vocabulary across matching, multiple-choice, and fill-in-the-blank formats.
Compose an original written sentence stating where a given animal lives, without word-bank or multiple-choice support.
Teaching tips
Sequence the nine pages from most to least supported: start with the matching and multiple-choice pages, move to the word-bank cloze and crossword, and finish with the true/false and open sentence-writing pages once the vocabulary is familiar.
Use the two-column table page as a quick formative check partway through the set, since it asks for the same ten pairings with no answer choices provided.
Save the sentence-writing page for last, since it is the only page that requires producing the vocabulary from memory rather than selecting or matching it.
Skills covered
Animal-habitat vocabulary recall — students match or recall the specific home term (kennel, nest, hive, den, anthill, burrow, web, stable, aquarium, coop) for each of ten common animals.
Multi-format concept transfer — the same ten animal-home pairs are practised through matching, multiple-choice, cloze, crossword, table, and true/false formats across the nine pages.
Sentence composition — the final page requires writing an original sentence naming each animal's home without a word bank or answer choices to draw on.
True/false statement evaluation — students judge the accuracy of eleven animal-home statements against the vocabulary practised earlier in the set.

Questions teachers ask about this resource
Do all nine worksheets use the same ten animals, or does the list change?
The core ten (dog, bird, cow, fish, horse or duck, bee, lion, spider, ant, rabbit) repeat across most pages, though a few pages substitute a hen or duck for horse, so the vocabulary is consistent but not perfectly identical page to page.
