Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
Complete a sentence describing what a person can and cannot do at a given life stage.
Use a contrast word (but, however, or although) correctly within a written sentence.
Write a short personal reflection connecting a life-stages vocabulary concept to one's own life.
Teaching tips
Introduce the four life-stage words—baby, toddler, child, adult—before students open the worksheet, since the fill-in blanks assume the vocabulary is already familiar.
Point out that but, however, and although each signal the same kind of contrast so students notice the sentences follow one pattern even though the connecting word changes.
Have students complete page one as a group discussion first, then move to page two's independent reflective writing.
Skills covered
Sentence completion — students supply the missing verb phrase in four contrast sentences about life-stage abilities.
Contrast-word usage — but, however, and although are each practiced within a sentence frame across the four items.
Reflective writing — students write multiple sentences on page two about their current stage of childhood and their expectations for adulthood.
