Teaching tips & learning objectives

Learning objectives

  • Students will match a written farm animal name to its correct picture.

  • Students will recognize and recall the names of ten common farm animals.

Teaching tips

  • Introduce the animal names aloud before students attempt the matching independently, since no word bank or extra support is provided beyond the printed names.

  • Pair with real or picture-book farm animal sounds so students connect the printed word, the picture, and the animal's sound.

Skills covered

  • Farm animal vocabulary recognition — students match ten printed animal names (dog, cat, goat, horse, chicken, pig, duck, rooster, sheep, cow) to their pictures.
