Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
Trace a target lowercase letter with correct manuscript formation.
Combine previously learned letters into short traced sequences.
Teaching tips
Assign one or two letter pages per handwriting session rather than the full 92-page packet at once, since the sequence builds letter by letter.
Have students say the letter name or sound aloud as they trace it, since the pages provide no verbal cues themselves.
Use the combination pages (e.g., 'ot,' 'il') as a quick check that a student has retained the individually-practised letters before moving to the next new letter.
Skills covered
Manuscript letter formation -- students trace individual lowercase letters (e.g., l, i, t, o) multiple times per page to build fine-motor letter formation.
Multi-letter tracing combination -- once several letters are introduced, students trace short letter combinations (e.g., 'ot,' 'il,' 'oll') that reuse only previously practised letters.
