Fifteen distinct narrative hook techniques -- action, dialogue, onomatopoeia, descriptive setting, character description, emotional questions, inner monologue, flashback, conflict, surprise, cliffhanger, misdirection, mystery, character-in-danger, and curiosity-sparking questions -- are each named and demonstrated through a short illustrative example paragraph, such as a skateboarder losing control down a hill or a notebook found inside a dusty chest. The identical set of fifteen posters is supplied twice, once sized for US Letter paper and once for A4, so the resource can be printed and displayed in either format. Teachers can hang the posters as an anchor chart students refer to during narrative writing, or use individual posters as mentor texts to model a specific technique before a writing workshop.
