About this resource
Add nouns to a connected word-building board, then list the words used on the lines below. The open format lets pupils draw on familiar people, places, and things while considering which letters can connect. Ask them to explain why each added word belongs in the noun category.
Curriculum reference — England: Word building gives practice selecting nouns; do not imply an included branded board game. Selected noun or past/present/future verb recognition supports Grade1 grammar; compound rewriting demands may need teacher support. England Year2 Appendix2 explicitly introduces noun, adjective and verb terminology (PDF p3); the supplied task practises recognition rather than all writing applications. Selected skills only; reference stage is not an overall reading age, complete curriculum coverage, or an automatic recommendation for every learner.
