Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
Students will express a music preference between two paired options by dragging a checkmark to their choice. Students will compare contrasting musical eras and genres (jazz vocalists versus contemporary pop artists) and instrument timbres (brass versus string, percussion versus woodwind).
Teaching tips
Play the referenced tracks aloud where possible so choices are grounded in listening rather than name recognition alone. Demonstrate the drag-and-drop mechanic on the practice checkmark on slide 1 before students work independently. Works well as a music-class warm-up or transition activity between lessons.
Skills covered
Music preference articulation — choosing between two contrasting musical options per slide using a drag-and-drop checkmark
Comparative listening — pairs contrast musical era/genre (jazz standards vs. contemporary pop) and instrument family (brass/string, percussion/woodwind)
Digital interaction — dragging and dropping an object within a PowerPoint slide
