Decorative Writing Sheets for Primary Students Printable ruled pages with child-friendly designs – for writing, practicing, and learning across subjects ✏️🌈 PNG + PDF These decorative worksheets were created especially for use in primary classrooms. Each sheet includes child-friendly rulings that support early writing skills and help students structure their ideas more clearly. What makes these pages extra special is their soft, coordinated design: the line colors match the surrounding illustrations, creating a calm and motivating look that many children really enjoy. Whether you're working on writing short stories, practicing letters, solving simple math problems, or even introducing music notation – these pages give students a visually appealing and structured space to work in. What’s included: A variety of printable worksheets with age-appropriate writing lines Gentle, decorative themes suited for younger learners Coordinated line colors for a neat and balanced appearance PDF format – ideal for printouts or digital notebooks (GoodNotes, Notability) PNG Format Classroom ideas: I’ve used these pages for journal entries, creative writing, dictations, and short-answer tasks. They’re also great as a “special” writing page for final versions of a story or when students present their work to the class. Many of my students take more care with their handwriting when they’re given a well-designed page to work on – a little aesthetic motivation goes a long way. Because the designs are subtle and not theme-locked, you can use them all year long. Some children even enjoy choosing their favorite version before starting a task – which can be a nice moment of autonomy in a structured lesson. These sheets are simple, flexible, and designed with classroom reality in mind – especially for younger learners who benefit from clear structure and a bit of visual encouragement. Types of Paragraphs - Make a Magazine Project: Narrative, Descriptive, Persuasive, Compare & Contrast, Cause & Effect, How-To Paragraphs
ELA, Writing, Creative Writing, Strategies, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Activities, Projects

Types of Paragraphs: Make a Magazine Project: Narrative, Descriptive, Persuasive, Compare & Contrast, Cause & Effect, How-To Paragraphs. This fun and engaging mini-unit helps teach paragraph writing while keeping students interested because they are creating their very own magazine! How to Use: Print a hamburger paragraph handout for each student. Review the parts of an effective paragraph: topic sentence, juicy details, and concluding sentence. Then teach your students about the six types of paragraphs they are going to learn how to write: narrative, descriptive, persuasive, compare and contrast, cause and effect, and how-to. Each kind of paragraph will be a different part of the magazine. A persuasive paragraph becomes a letter to the editor. A narrative paragraph will be a personal story. A descriptive paragraph will be a travel article. A compare and contrast paragraph will be a product review. A cause and effect paragraph will be a current events article, and a how-to paragraph will be a home maintenance piece. Use one period of class time to draft each paragraph. Students get a handout with some sample ideas and then come up with their own. They draft a 5-sentence paragraph that will become their "article." After each draft, show students the editing handout, and encourage them to edit their own work or trade with a friend. You can also have students hand in their drafts each day for you to edit as well. Once students have their six edited drafts, they can either type them OR write good copies on the included templates. Put them all together, make a title page, and each student now has their own magazine! Extensions: Early finishers can make a crossword puzzle using an online website, or create their own advertisement for their magazine! Grades to Use With: This project is designed for students who are learning how to write effective paragraphs in grades 2-5. What's Included: A total of 16 pages in ready-to-print PDF format Title Page Hamburger Paragraph Handout 6 Draft Pages Proofreading Checklist 7 Pages of Templates for Good Copies

ABC Game – Alphabet Match with a Soccer Twist | Elementary & ESL Similar to Dobble / Spot it! A playful matching game to support letter recognition in preschool and early elementary (Pre-K to Grade 3) ⚽🔤 This hands-on alphabet game is a great way to help young learners recognize and match letters while staying engaged and active. Inspired by the popular “Find the Twin” concept (also known as Spot It! or Dobble), this printable classroom activity turns letter learning into a fun group challenge. Each card features 6 colorful images – all created by hand and designed with younger students in mind. Every pair of cards has exactly one matching symbol, and the challenge is to find it as quickly as possible. The game helps children sharpen their visual scanning, focus, and of course, their knowledge of the alphabet. You’ll receive two complete versions of the game with 31 cards each – in both round and square formats. This gives you flexibility depending on how you want to prep and present the game. What’s included: 62 total cards (2x 31 cards) 2 formats: round and square (easy to cut) Each card with 6 hand-drawn ABC images Clear instructions for classroom use Designed for easy printing and laminating How it works in the classroom: I’ve used games like this during literacy centers, as warm-ups for phonics lessons, or simply to give students a fun break while still learning. The rules are easy to understand – even for non-readers – and the game naturally encourages turn-taking and positive interaction. Because it’s low-prep and flexible, it also works well for early finishers or small-group stations. You can even keep a laminated version in a quiet corner for students to play independently or with a buddy. Fun, focused, and full of learning – this alphabet game helps build confidence with letters in a way that feels like play. A low-prep, high-impact way to make learning the alphabet more interactive – and fun. Warm regards, Lernfitness Did You Know? Dog Breeds Coloring Domino – Fun and Educational Game

Dog Breeds Coloring Domino – Fun and Educational Game
ELA, Language Development, ESL, Special Resources, Science, Basic Science, Life Sciences, Animals, Biology, STEM, Grade 6, Projects, Activities, Classroom Decor, Drawing Templates & Outlines, Worksheets & Printables, Coloring Pages, Worksheets, Word Walls, Games

Dog Breeds Domino – A Calm Coloring & Matching Game for Elementary Students This printable domino game is a quiet and creative way for students to explore different dog breeds while practicing matching skills and early reading. The cards are all black and white, so students can color them themselves – something my third graders always look forward to. It gives them a sense of ownership over the material and creates a nice break from more structured tasks. The idea is simple: each domino shows either a dog breed name or a drawing, and students have to find the correct pairs. The illustrations are clear and recognizable, even without color, so they work well for younger learners or students still developing their vocabulary. The breed names are printed in an easy-to-read font, which helps build confidence in early readers. I’ve used this activity in a few different contexts: – as a quiet task for early finishers – in small group centers – during indoor recess on rainy days – or as part of a broader unit on animals and pets It also opens up room for short, low-pressure conversations – for example, “Which one do you think is the fastest?” or “Would you want a dog like that at home?” If you work with a therapy or school dog, like I do, it’s a great way to bring that connection into the classroom without needing a full lesson plan. The file includes 20 domino cards that you can print and cut out. I recommend using heavier paper or laminating the cards if you plan to reuse them. Depending on the group, you can let students color all the cards first or wait until they’ve completed a match. This is one of those activities that feels more like a calm puzzle than a “game” – which is exactly what some students need in a busy school day. 💛 Warmest wishes, Heike from Lernfitness & Happy Joe 🐶✨ Did You Know? Historical Fiction Genre Study Literature Circle Project
ELA, Social Studies, Literature, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Grade 6, 7, 8, 9, Projects, Activities

This Historical Fiction Genre Study Literature Circle Project is a 41-page resource designed for grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. as a culminating project after a literature circle or book group experience focused on historical fiction. It can be modified for lower or higher grades as well. Working in literature circle groups or book clubs, students will read a historical fiction novel, analyze its characters, plot, author's craft , and historical time period, and present their findings to a small group. This project introduces students to the genre of historical fiction and helps them understand its importance and significance. By the end of the project, students should have a good understanding of what historical fiction is. Many students enjoy reading historical fiction, especially if they are learning about the period in their History/Social Studies class. In addition, if you teach a Language Arts/History Core or plan with a History/Social Studies partner-teacher, this is an excellent resource for both classes and provides students with a different way to engage with history. Historical fiction is an important genre for students for a several reasons, including making the study of history more engaging and interesting by making history come alive. Students also develop an understanding of how historical periods connect to today. It also provides students opportunities tothink critically about the events and people from the past, analyze and interpret historical events, and understand different perspectives. Lastly, by making the past accessible, historical fiction helps students develop empathy, tolerance, and respect because students learn to see history through the eyes of characters from different time periods and cultures The Historical Fiction Genre Study Literature Circle Project includes the following: 2 ready-to-use lesson plans: Book Browse an interactive and comprehensive Genre Study Lesson Plan with common core standards, objectives, and learning targets Book Browse worksheet Easy-to-follow Project Directions Note Taking Guide Note-Taking Chart Spoke Diagram worksheet Character Chart worksheet Sensory Imagery Chart worksheet Other Elements Chart worksheet Storyboard Directions worksheet Presentation Directions Rubric for Literature Circle Discussions Daily Accountability for Homework and Classwork form Self-Evaluation of Historical Fiction Literature Circle Group Project Check-off and Grading Other Resources You Might Be Interested In: Book Reports: Autobiography/Biography Genre Study Book Report and Speech Book into Movie Project: Compare and Contrast Book Report and Essay Book Jacket Book Report Character Analysis Essay, Gift for a Character Book Report, and Oral Presentation Historical Fiction Genre Study Book Report Historical Fiction Genre Study Literature Circle Project Poetry Book Report Mini-Reviews Book Report Mystery, Thriller, Horror, and Suspense Genre Study Book Report Narrative Nonfiction Genre Study Book Report Project Poetry Book Report Dystopian.
