A-E Phonic Game To Develop Phonemic Awareness
Special Resources, ELA, Language Development, Pre-Reading, Phonics, Reading, Spelling, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, Activities, Games

Here is a fun, print 'n play phonic game for the split digraph a-e! Help your pupils to grasp the tricky split digraph concept as they play! Who is the a-e game suitable for? All learners of phonics, including young children, SEN/special needs, ESL etc... Aims and Objectives Some children, when starting to learn about the long /a-e/ sound will start to make every /a/ into a long /a-e/ sound. While this is common among all children, some children need more help to overcome this difficulty. Therefore, this game has two aims: 1.To help children to be able to hear the long vowel sound a-e in words 2.To help children understand that some words have a short /a/ and some have a long /a-e/; the child must listen to hear which word has which - not guess. How to play: This is a game for two ore three players, one of which should be an adult. The game can be played with either pictures or sounds. Each player takes a game board (either pictures or sounds) which will indicate whether the player should listen for words with a short /a/ sound or a long /a-e/ sound. The adult reads a word on the word card, and the pupils must listen for 'e' or no 'e'? If the pupil has the sound/ picture on his/her board, she/he covers up a space. the winner fills hi/her board first. Teaching tips: Help children to hear the vowel sound by emphasizing it and stretching it out. Help the child to do this as well. Have fun - as this eases children over those tricky spots! What is included? 1 PDF with 2 game sound boards, 2 picture boards, squares to cover up and a word (readers) card. See more fun phonic games in the Lilibette's Resources store! Fractional Parts of a Set in Space

Fractional Parts of a Set in Space
Math, Fractions, Grade 3, Parts of and Anatomy of, Worksheets & Printables

This is a math activity called Fractional Parts of a Set in Space. It is great for your 3rd grade students. • Each student will need a blank piece of white paper, both 9 x 12 and 8 ½ x 11 will work, but the larger paper will make it easier to draw pictures big and clear enough to count later on. • Make it clear that students’ pictures will end up looking very different, but they must follow the instructions for how many things to draw and color very carefully. • You may opt to have students use the attached “cheat sheet” on which they can redraw their objects in a row in order to better figure out the fractional parts of each set. This depends on how deep their understanding of the concept goes at this point. The first one is already done for them. • You will probably want to work through the first couple of instructions as a class, also depending on how deep you are into the concept. On their paper, students will create the following: 8 planets 4 aliens with 3 eyes and 2 antennae each 6 spaceships with 2 exhaust pipes and 3 stickers each 24 stars 9 moons 5 astronauts wearing boots and gloves For each thing they draw , they will be directed to color a portion of the pictures accordingly. Students will have a cheat sheet to help them. When they have followed the directions and completed their space picture, students will answer a set of questions about their picture. This is a fun way to review fractions!

Help Leo Sort Parts of the Body is a sorting/grouping activity designed to help learners develop their understanding of human anatomy by identifying and categorizing different body parts. In this activity, the learner is presented with a set of picture cards, each featuring a specific body part, such as hands, heads, feet, and so on. Parts of the body in this activity head eye eyes ear nose mouth lips arm hand hands feet foot leg The learner is then given a set of 6 non-identical pictures of each body part and asked to sort them into the correct picture card. For example, if the learner is presented with a card featuring a hand, they will be given six non-identical pictures of hands to sort into that card. The cards are ethnically diverse. This activity is ideal for learners of all ages, as it helps to develop their observational and analytical skills, as well as their knowledge of human anatomy. It is also an engaging and interactive way for learners to practice and reinforce their understanding of different body parts. This activity can be adapted to suit learners at different levels, with more challenging variations featuring more complex body parts or additional categories for sorting. Overall, "Sort the Body Parts" is a fun and effective educational activity that can help learners to build their understanding of the human body and build on visual discrimination skills. All the pages are clear of visual distractions which helps the learner focus on the task. This activity is easy to create - Print and laminate all cards, cut out the individual sorting cards and velcro to the corresponding activity mat. You can three hole punch the mats and put them in a binder for many years of teaching and learning. Enjoy, IFIO girl
