Chinese Lantern Activity The activity is perfect for encouraging the researching skills for the students, while learning more about this fantastic place. Chinese Lantern This friendly designed worksheet is suitable for students at school, homeschooling, and as a group activity. Circuit Preparation Bend the pins of the LED at a 90 degrees angle. Place the battery between the pins and tape them together, then use the binder clip to hold everything tighter. Note: Make sure the negative end of the battery (Which is the bottom) is connected to the negative part of the LED (which is the shorter pin). Instructions Cut everything out and fold along the solid lines, then use the tabs to create a cuboid. Before gluing the cuboid together, put the LED inside, then close the cuboid. Spray some vegetable oil on the cuboid to make it more translucent. Watch the lantern light up! Format Available in a PDF format.

I have found that 2-3 class periods is ample time to finish this project. Students who need additional time must take it home for homework. We are always looking for ways to teach our students new skills. Being able to tailor instruction to their learning styles is just one effective way to increase student engagement and set students up for success. Many of our students, from year to year, are visual and auditory learners. Most children (and even adults) can attest to their ability to better retain information that they have learned through music and song. Because of this, my resources seek to teach students skills through song. This particular resource is aColumbus and Explorers Song. This can be used in your social studies classroom with your elementary students.
