There is one reading passage that focuses on a few famous cats, including the first cat in space as well as a cat who survived three shipwrecks! There is one reading passage that shows how cats are useful to us today. Each reading passage is a short, simple read on the basic history of cats in Japan and Egypt. Each famous cat has a two or three sentence passage explaining why they were famous. Each passage is accompanied by colorful, drawings to illustrate each part of the passage. When to Use Read aloud - The teacher can read these passages full of fun cat facts to their students. Independent Reading - Older students can read these passages on their own to learn more about cats and how they affected and still affect cultures around the world. For Fun - Students can read these passages for fun to learn all of the interesting facts about cats. These reading passages are print and go. Just print and use them how you want, whether students read on their own or you read to them. These reading pages can be laminated for durability and placed in a reading center or other location where students can freely choose items to read on their own.
