Are you looking for fun activities for practicing number recognition? These pixel art worksheets are perfect for getting your students to practice number identification for the number 6! Different options for how to use this resource: Cut and paste You can choose to print the colour square pages on white paper. -This is the simplest option, but it will take a lot of colour ink. Or you can choose to print the black line squares pages on colour paper. -This will use a lot less ink, but it will take a little more work to prepare. -You may struggle to find colour paper in all the colours I have used. If you have a problem finding the right colours, you can generally substitute a different colour if you need to. Simply look at the answer key to see what the pictures are and choose an appropriate substitute colour. Colour by number You will only need to print the worksheets and allow the students to colour the squares themselves. Preparation: Worksheets 3 printing options: 1. Full colour - best if you will be able to use all the same colours that I have used. 2. Partial colour – I have left the colours blank. You will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . This is best if you need to make some substitutions because you are printing on colour paper and cannot find all the correct colours. 3. Black and white - like with the partial colour version, you will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . In addition, key reading strategies are frequently covered including cause & effect, summarizing, compare & contrast and making conclusions. Three of the questions will be MCQs and two will require a written response of some kind. Full answers and example responses appear at the end of the lesson. Spelling & Vocab Each reading passage contains a variety of words and phrases designed for Grade 2-3 students. Spelling and vocab activities provide the opportunity to build fluency with these words. As it can become quite mundane doing the same activities over and over, each lesson in a set will contain a different spelling and vocab activity . Writing Prompts Writing prompts are designed to continue the theme or lessons learned in the story. Students are persuaded to write in a variety of ways and each prompt includes several cues to help. As with the spelling/vocab section, writing prompts will vary. This includes research pieces, reading responses, poetry and creative writing prompts. Full Answer Keys Full answer keys and sample responses are provided so no matter how busy you are, you know you're covered! Reading Intervention for Struggling Readers: Consonant Blends

This is the second in a series of books written to provide intervention for struggling readers. Struggling readers often have gaps in their phonic knowledge or have started to guess. These books help to retrain the child. They start back at the beginning with CVC words to ensure the child can read fluently at this level and to build shattered confidence. Sometimes children think they can read the easy books, but find that they have learnt to guess words which interrupts fluency and excludes them from comprehending what has been read. They build up, from CVC words, through consonant blends words with a short vowel sound, to ck, oo words. More are coming! They are useful for reading intervention for older pupils, maybe even of 11+ who are struggling to read fluently. Pupils should be able to blend fluently and have some phonic knowledge, though it may not be secure. Who is this book for? Older pupils who can read, but who have a reading age well below their chronological age. such children may struggle to read simple text with accuracy/fluency and thereby lack comprehension. It is not for pupils who are just beginning to read with phonics. Please see my Consonant Blends readers for such pupils. It is convenient enough for parents to use with their children, as well as for use by teachers and private tutors. Outline and steps This book begins follows work with CVC words with a short vowel sound and only three sounds. In my remedial work with older struggling readers, I often find that these children need help to distinguish between similar words, such as trip and tip, and by retraining the child to read accurately using these simple texts - that do not look babyish - and then rebuilding from the bottom up, much progress can be made. Please find the next book in the series, More Consonant Blends Words , in my store. I thought that my pupils would look with disdain on these books. I found the opposite; they were so relieved that at last somebody had actually given them a book they could read! Purpose These books have been written and tried and tested on some of my older pupils (mainly boys I admit), and they have proved very helpful. Most of my pupils have a dyslexic type problem, involving poor processing skills. It is crucial that they build a secure foundation for reading ability to build upon. This book, used as described will help to build that foundation. I am finding more and more such pupils desperate for help. You can help too! It is not hard but just needs a little understanding of the problem. PowerPoint While using this book, use the exercise on the included PowerPoint to strengthen the child's phonic blending skills and to re-train the child not to guess but look at all sounds in a word. Do have the child recite the vowel sounds at every lesson as these are often weak. Before giving the pupil this book to read, ensure that the child is able to easily blend two consonant letters and to see them in words. There is a PowerPoint included with this book with some editable teaching resources. The film tells the story of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, one of the first all-black regiments in the American Civil War. The regiment, made up of free black men and former slaves, faces racism and discrimination from both their own army and the Confederacy. Despite the challenges they face, the 54th Massachusetts Infantry fights with courage and bravery, proving their worth as soldiers and earning the respect of their fellow soldiers. Along the way, they encounter various obstacles, including prejudice from their own commander, General Harker (John Finn), and a brutal battle at Fort Wagner, where they suffer heavy losses. The film also focuses on the story of Private Trip (Denzel Washington), a former slave who initially resists authority but ultimately becomes a key member of the regiment. He forms a close bond with Shaw, who struggles to gain the respect and support of his men. "Glory" is a powerful and moving film that explores themes of race, equality, and courage. It depicts the struggles and triumphs of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry and the sacrifices they made in their fight for freedom and justice during a turbulent time in American history.
