All of the words are introduced and then met again in subsequent readers, to help develop confidence and fluency. The book s begins with just a few words being introduced. For example, this book CVC Reading book 12 uses the words a, the, fox, red, hen, big, bad, met, get, can, run, not, etc. The whole scope and sequence is included in the pack for your reference. Each book lists the sight word/s being used in that book at the beginning. There is also a short introduction to the book to be read by the teacher and discussed with the child. These introductions help to make up for the lack of words in the book and help parents and teachers to have a basis for discussion with the child, so aiding reading comprehension. I have based the stories around loveable characters with whom the children quickly identify: farmer Tom with his animals, his wife, his son Sam and daughter, Pam, his dog, Jiff and the cat. Careful use of pictures helps to make up for the lack of words, while telling a little story - rather than having stilted phonic readers. Due to the systematic, phonetic nature of these books, they are highly suitable for special needs children who have failed with other programmes. Many parents have told me they wished they had found these books sooner, or had found them at all, as they would have been ideal for their struggling reader. They have been thoroughly tested by my current pupils all of whom are boys. Even my nine-year old boy pupil loves them. They can also be used with young EFL/ESL learners.

Long and Short E: Quiz Game Sample Game Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game Note 1: Upon opening you will come across a password prompt. Press 'read only'. Note 2: You may need to allow ActiveX controls to use the scoreboard. The game starts will the front screen. Press the arrow in the bottom right to move onto round 1 - short E. There are ten questions in each round, click on one of these buttons to go to that question. There are a mix of options and marks available. Click on the correct answer. Incorrect answers will go dim. Correct answers will flash, all the incorrect answers will dim, small picture will appear. At this point if you are using the scoreboard, click on scores. You can edit any of the boxes and don't need to leave slideshow to edit it - the team names and scores. Simply input using keyboard. You can't save this to use another time in the future but you can use it for as long as the PPT is open. From there you can go to Round 1 or 2 by clicking on the buttons at the bottom. Upon returning to the question screen, any questions already answered will be blank (ie. no text) so you can keep track of those answered.
