Fry's Tenth 100 Sight Words Fill-in-the-Blanks

If you are looking to practice Fry's sight words, then this is without a doubt the resource for you and your students. In this resource, Fry's Tenth 100 Sight words are all featured. First of all, this set consists of a bunch of flash cards. These cards come in different styles, colored and with or without sharp edges. Just choose the set that is right for you. Then Print, laminate, and cut the cards as you please. The next way to practice these sight words is with the vocabulary lists. There is one that shows all of these words in alphabetical order, while the other list shows each word in order of frequency. And then there is the fill in the blaks worksheet. With this you can really test your students to see if they remembered all of the words and their usage. Finally, use the word search to practice these words in a more fun way. Have fun!

This is a sample pack of eight phonics worksheets, covering cvc words, cvcc words, ‘ck’, ‘ee’/‘oo’, ‘sh’, ‘ar’ and ‘or’ providing valuable backup work to lessons. These worksheets have been written in the course of teaching phonics to Y1 (K) classes over many years. Objectives They provide the pupils with precise, targeted work to help them to take the next step in phonic progression. As the children work, they provide feedback to the teacher, so being great a great tool for assessment. Grade or Ages Although these phonic worksheets were written for ages 5-6 they can also be used with older children requiring catchup help or those with special needs. How to use these phonics worksheets They can be used with the whole class if blown up large on a screen They can be given to individual children to work in a group/individual setting They can be used by private tutors and parents as well as class teachers They can be used for intervention work, and/or ESL SFL. They can be made used to make your own products, e.g. PowerPoint slides provided you do not sell the new product. Compatibility These sheets are compatible with all phonics schemes, however as different schemes introduce sounds at different time, just check that your pupil knows all the necessary digraphs to complete the sheet. For example, the word ‘shark’ has both ‘sh’ and ‘ar’ and so both should have been learned before expecting the child to read and spell this word. Beginning Sounds Matching Game

Students can practice recognizing the beginning sounds in words with this matching game. The bold, colorful, and easy to recognize images will assist students in completing this activity independently or with a partner. The colorful nature of this game will keep students engage as they match each picture to its beginning sound. What is Included There 136 different picture cards in two different formats, one with just the picture and one with the picture and the word with the beginning sound missing for students to fill in. capital and lowercase letter cards for students to match with each picture. How to Use: This set of cards can be used as a traditional matching game, where students work together or independently to match each picture to the beginning sound. This set can be used as a concentration game where students lay all the cards face down and they work to match the picture with its beginning sound or to match two cards with the same beginning sound. The picture cards with words can be laminated and students can use dry erase markers to write the beginning sound of each word on the blank line. Students can match the capital and lowercase letters. Where to Use: Literacy Centers - These beginning sound cards can be placed inside a literacy center for students to work alone or with a partner to complete. Morning Bins - These cards can be used as a morning activity for students to complete while waiting on classmates to arrive to class. Small Group Activity - Students who need extra help identifying sounds in words can be put in a small group to get further practice with this skill. Skills Assessed: With these cards teachers can assess a student's ability to identify beginning sounds in words, matching the beginning sound with its appropriate letter, and matching two pictures that begin with the same beginning sound.

I created these phonic readers as I saw the huge need for highly structured, fun-to-read, early-reading books. They are very popular. I am an Early Years Specialist Teacher (B. Ed) who is currently tutoring children with profound special needs in reading and writing following over 30 years of teaching phonics. Though not part of an approved programme they are based on synthetic, very systematic phonics. They are highly structured, repeating vocabulary, introducing sight words slowly and introducing a-e words while practising those listed above that have been learned before. How long are the books? The reading books are either 8 or 12 pages long. Why are these books FREE when other people's books cost so much? Are they of lesser quality? They are free as I regard the ability to read as being a fundamental right of every living person. Why should some miss out on top-quality resources because they cannot pay for them? In terms of content, they are top quality, carefully planned and sequenced with the aim of helping as many children as possible get started on the phonic road to reading.
