In this FREE resource, you will get 3 visual wheels for a calm down, take a break, and reset area. This can be used in any classroom or counseling setting. There are 3 visual wheels; one for feelings, calming down strategies, and expected behaviors to rejoin the classroom activity or go back to class. On the feelings wheel, there are 6 feelings; mad, sad, excited, silly, worried and confused. On the strategy wheel, the strategies are; slow breath, stress ball, wall push-ups, sensory strip, talk to an adult and drink some water. On the reset/expectations wheel the prompts show; raise hand, respect personal space, hands to your side, listen, getting on task, and eyes on the teacher. These wheels can be used to help a student who is dysregulated in the classroom These handouts are the perfect visuals for any calm down area. One of the things you need to add as a material is a sensory strip or you can create your own using different types of textures and materials for students to touch and move their fingers one. You also need to add some type of stress ball that the students can squeeze if they choose to use the stress ball strategy. Teaching kids at a young age to self-regulate and manage their BIG emotions is crucial to helping them learn in the classroom. Students who are dysregulated cannot learn or attend to the classroom lessons. They first need to calm down and lower the level of energy and emotion. Sometimes students are not necessarily angry or sad, but they are silly and excited to the point where they are disrupting the learning of others. This tool can help those students as well to recognize tools they can use to calm down and focus in the classroom, thus allowing them to learn and others as well.

Reading Made Simple — Free A (ar) Phonics Workbook This sound is dialect-dependent. For some, it will be a set of short 'a' words, for others, the 'a' will make an 'ar' sound. Teach according to your dialect. These little workbooks have been a quiet favourite with families using Reading Made Simple for some time now. Each one focuses on a single sound and prints on just one sheet of A4 paper — double-sided, folded in half to make a neat A5 booklet that children can hold and work through at their own pace. They are entirely optional. The phonics programme works perfectly well without them, but many parents and teachers find them a useful companion — either as structured practice or simply as a source of ideas to dip into when needed. Tested by real children: One 5-year-old user is quoted as having said, 'The worksheet is the best bit of my lessons!' Other parents have noted that their child likes the worksheet because 'they think it is easy'. When learning is broken down into small, achievable steps, with no curve balls to throw them off track, every child can say, 'I can read!' That said, they will not suit every child. Some will find them too long, others too straightforward. Use your own judgement — pick the activities that fit, leave the rest, or set them aside entirely.
