Each book has a matching PowerPoint, making it suitable for various settings. This book tells the story of Caligula's attempt to conquer Britain. The Jack Stories, of which this book is one, introduces one phonic sound at a time, and subsequent books build on the vocabulary of the books before, constantly revising and reviewing learned sounds. The Phonics Advantage Progressive Emergent Reader Books slowly progress in the number of words on the page, number of words in a sentence, and the number of sentences on a page. The emergent readers reinforce sight-word vocabulary and word families. Great care was taken to use decodable words, and to review words from earlier stories. These emergent readers are formatted for easy reading on student’s digital devices. They can also be read on all computer screens, and be presented on white boards for whole-class reading experiences. The emergent readers can be downloaded to student’s digital devices, emailed to student’s homes, or posted on a class website that is password protected and open to your classroom only. This download is for Books 16 - 30 in Level 2. Level 2 is a mixture of themed books and short stories written with two to three sentences on each page. The product is a zip file containing three PDF files, each having five emergent readers. For subject diversity, each PDF of five emergent readers contains a book on animals (birds, frogs, bears), a trip (village farm, Lego club display, the big park), and something to do (origami, ride a merry-go-round, go tubing, make pancakes). All you need to teach the phonic letter E! It can be used in multiple ways: As the child learns each sound, you can use the PowerPoint lesson to reinforce your own lesson It can be sent home for a child to watch with his/her parents after being taught the letter Ee in class - this will then act as revision as well as training the parent as to what is necessary to help the child. Use in class Use at home by parents or for home education Suggested Method: Introduce each letter in turn to your pupil. Have a flashcard of the letter ready. Say the sound each letter represents to the child and ask him/her to repeat it three times. Explain that some words begin with this sound. Give an example. Either use the lesson as teacher training for yourself to see how to teach your child, or use it with the child. Initial sounds Phonics Test This is a fun test to find out whether children can hear the initial, or beginning sound of words, or not. The test requires the teacher to ask: What sound does _____ begin with? The child has bright colourful pictures on each of the three pages and plenty of space to record his/her answer next to each picture. Who is the Initial Sounds Phonics Test for? This test is for anyone who teaches the initial sounds to children, be that Pre-K, K, ESL, EFL, Private tutors, home educators, or parents at home. Full instructions as to how to administer the test are provided, including solutions in case of misidentification of pictures. Format: The test has a bright cover, with space for the child’s name. it also includes a quick reference chart so that the teacher can quickly see which sounds a child does not yet know. Instructions and rationale: Print as a booklet (A3 paper required), or print the A4 pages individually and staple them together. Full instructions are included. Testing has got a bad name, but it is crucial that every teacher informally tests all of their pupils regularly to make sure that every child is ready for the next step. If we wish children to succeed in learning to read and spell with phonics, then we must check this very first skill thoroughly. Children will not think it is a test, with its bright pictures and appealing layout. Testing tips: Make sure every child can hear the initial sounds before they start to blend. With this resource, you can practice the initial or beginning consonant blends: fl, fr, gl, gr, pl, pr - And there are a whole bunch of ways to do this. First of all, you can use the digital PDF file to present each word to your students. Just use the arrow keys on your PC or laptop to go from one word to the next. You can also use the printable flash cards to do so. Just print the cards, laminate them and cut them out. There are two different versions available, one with rounded corners and one with sharp corners. Choose whichever one you prefer. When it is time to test the words, just hand out the vocabulary list and follow this up with the vocab test the very next class. And for a bit of fun, go ahead and play the BINGO game. Your students are sure to have a blast with this!
