Reading Made Simple — Free CK Phonics Workbook These little workbooks have been a quiet favourite with families using Sound It Out Phonics for some time now. Each one focuses on a single sound and prints on just one sheet of A4 paper — double-sided, folded in half to make a neat A5 booklet that children can hold and work through at their own pace. They are entirely optional. The phonics programme works perfectly well without them, but many parents and teachers find them a useful companion — either as structured practice or simply as a source of ideas to dip into when needed. One 5-year-old user is quoted as having said, 'The worksheet is the best bit of my lessons!' Other parents have noted that their child likes the worksheet because 'they think it is easy'. When learning is broken down into small, achievable steps, with no curve balls to throw them off track, every child can say, 'I can read!' When I hear these reviews, I know that I have succeeded in my aim to write a phonics curriculum that can help children of all abilities learn to read and spell. These little workbooks are just one small part of what there is to offer. Please do check out the website for more information. Each workbook offers a gentle mix of activities built around the target sound. Children will read short passages that practise the new sound alongside words from sounds already taught, track and identify the sound within words to support both reading and spelling, practise spelling and sentence writing, and work through simple editing exercises where they spot and correct mistakes. These small editing tasks are particularly worthwhile — they encourage children to look carefully at words rather than guessing from context. The workbooks are particularly well-suited to younger children just beginning their phonics journey, and to older children with special educational needs who are still building their foundational reading and spelling skills. That said, they will not suit every child. Some will find them too long, others too straightforward. Use your own judgement — pick the activities that fit, leave the rest, or set them aside entirely. There is no obligation and no right or wrong way to use them. To print: print double-sided, flipping on the short edge. Fold in half to create your A5 booklet. The answer page at the back is optional. One sheet of paper. One sound. Everything a child needs to practise, consolidate and grow in confidence.

AP Word Family Clip Cards

Kindergarteners and first graders will have a blast practicing AP words with these phonics clip cards. Students will get tons exposure to reading CVC words as well as building fine motor skills by using clothes clips to identify each letter. What is Included: There are three different sets of clip cards for students to practice reading AP words. One set has students clip the correct rime, the next set has students select the correct spelling, specifically focusing on ending sound. The final set also focuses on spelling, but students must choose the word with the correct rime at the end. How to Use: To use these clip cards, students will need to use a clip or some other manipulative to mark each clip card. Students will look at the picture on each card and then clip or cover the word that matches the picture. The teacher may choose to use other objects, like counters, bingo chips or mini erasers to identify each correct answer. The clip cards can be laminated so students can mark their correct responses with dry erase. Where to Use: Fine Motor or Literacy Center - Simply place the clip cards and clips inside the center for students to complete. Morning Tubs or Baskets - These clip cards can be placed in a morning bin for students to work on while their classmates to arrive to school. Task Boxes - By placing these clip cards in task boxes, the teacher will have an easy to set up activity for students that they can easily complete and clean up on their own. Skills Assessed Students will practice identifying AP words Students must read CVC words to determine the word that matches the image provided. Fine Motor Skills with marking their answers with clips These AP word clip cards are a low prep activity for teachers to assign to students. The cards just need to be printed out and cut apart before students can complete them.

Playing the Game After the front screen the game begins. Press the control pad in the bottom left for the picture sequence to begin. Four pictures will appear on the arcade game console. Learn Initial Sounds G: Lesson 7 teaches the letter Gg and its related phonic sound through a 32-slide PowerPoint lesson and 5 follow-up activity worksheets. All you need to teach the phonic letter F! Whether in school or at home, this series of phonic presentations can help you effectively teach initial/beginning sounds to all pupils, including those with special needs/dyslexia. This lesson is part of a synthetic, systematic phonics programme for all abilities including those suspected of being dyslexic. This lesson is in the first stage of the Reading Made Simple programme where we teach the initial, or beginning, sounds. The ability to hear the initial/beginning sound is stressed throughout, while we learn to associate each letter with its sound. Each lesson can stand alone but the activities will presume knowledge of the previous letters in the alphabet as Reading Made Simple teaches the initial sounds in alphabetical order. Here is an ultra fun game to help pupils learn to 'Spot the 'e''' and change from vowel sound to vowel name! This game covers i/i-e a/a-e o/o-e When introducing the Final e/silent ‘e’/split digraphs/CVCV words, many children have difficulty quickly changing vowel names to vowel sounds and vice versa. This game can help to take the stress out of learning. How to play The game involves each player having a baseboard upon which to build his/her tower. Players aim to be the first to build their tower and win! Word cards containing both silent 'e' and CVC words are scattered on the table - with an 'oops' card hidden amongst them! Players take turns to choose a card. If it is read correctly, the player places it on his/her baseboard and begins to build a tower. Teachers and parents may give the child as much help as needed to read each word and turn it into a teaching opportunity. With more confident children, you can change the rules so that the card is returned face down to the table if it is not read correctly. If a player chooses the 'Oops' card, then the whole tower is wiped off the player's board and the cards are returned to the table, face down and play continues until someone manages to build their tower. Your pupils will have so much fun they will forget that they are learning! Games take the pain out of learning! Ease of preparation: The game is easy to make: simply print the baseboards and desired word cards, then cut up the word cards. Full instructions included Who can use the 'Spot the 'e' game?
