Also, you can print out the same words on flash cards. there are two different sets. One is colored and one is in black and white. There are also some curved lines on the outside so you can cut them out, preventing students from poking their fingers on sharp edges. There is also a set of word searches included in this resource. So there are like 10 word searches with roughly 20 words per word search. And finally there is a vocabulary list. This is pretty self explanatory. All and all, there is enough stuff in here. This sight word emergent reader packet contains three different sight word reading books that help differentiate sight word instruction. This emergent reader focuses on the sight word: blue. Books Included: Reading Fluency - With this book, students simply read each simple sentence and color the picture. Write and Read - Students will color the picture, write the target sight word, then read the sentences. Trace and Read - Students will color the picture, trace the target sight word, then read the sentences. This book allows students to read simple sentences with the target sight word. The different books available help support students of various levels of be successful with reading and writing sight words. How to Make: Teachers will print out the pages and give them to the students to color, write and trace. They will then cut the pages apart and staple them together to create their book. When to Use: Literacy Center - These emergent readers can be used in literacy center for students to practice these sight words. Homework - These emergent readers can be sent home from homework so parents can assist students in learning their sight words. Independent Practice - These emergent readers make great independent practice for students learning sight words. Sub Plans - Since these emergent readers have easy to follow directions, they make great activities to leave with substitutes. Reading Center - The teacher can create these emergent readers (or students can create their own copies) to be placed in a reading center or class library to read the books again and again. These emergent readers are a great no-prep activity for teachers to give to students to complete. The pages just need to be printed and given to students. Students will need scissors and a stapler (or tape) to put the book together. Skills Assessed: Students will practice recognizing sight words. If chosen, students can also practice writing or tracing the target sight word.

This _NT Endings decodable reading book is the 12th book in a series that can help children with special needs pupils develop reading fluency. Each book comes with a matching PowerPoint making it suitable for use in a range of settings. The Jack Stories, of which this book is one, introduces one phonic sound at a time, and subsequent books build on the vocabulary of the books before, constantly revising and reviewing learned sounds. Irregular sight words are only slowly and gradually introduced. Science of reading aligned. Based on the most up-to-date phonic research. These books should be read sequentially as they tell one long story, each telling a part. This book contains words with the following sounds: CK: OO, EE and SH and CH and ND Endings. The whole series to date can also be purchased as a growing bundle here, with a scope and sequence. This series has been written with the aid of one of my pupils, aged 8. He has drawn some of the pictures. What makes this phonic reading programme for special needs different? · It has its own, easy-to-download and print phonic reading books, making it accessible to many children worldwide. · Each book carefully builds on the vocabulary of those that have gone before, providing much repetition, without relying on predictable text. · Pictures aid the storyline without encouraging reading from the pictures – i.e. guessing. · The vocabulary is based on phonic families, which are introduced in a carefully planned way. · True sight words – those that cannot be sounded out - are kept to the very minimum. Most words are introduced in their phonic family wherever possible. · It is truly multisensory, using the power of the hand. We not only look at the words, but we write them too. SP Beginning Blends Worksheets / Phonemic Awareness Activities

This SP fun, Find and Color worksheet for beginning blends is Splendid for acquainting children orally with initial consonant blends and helping them develop the necessary phonemic awareness in preparation for more advanced blending work, involving four phonemes. What is included in the pack? One PDF sheet for the SP blend. What do the worksheets involve? Pupils are instructed to combine the two letters on each worksheet and then look for objects that start with that consonant blend. Then, these items ought to be coloured, leaving the others uncoloured. Children can easily work on the sheets unaided once they have been instructed, although, with those children with special needs, it is strongly suggested that an adult works with the child for maximum benefit. How to use The introduction of the concept of initial blends needs to be done thoroughly. When I work with children, especially those with a special need, I first like to teach children to blend two consonant letters. Then I work on developing the children's phonemic awareness: that being the ability to hear two consonant letters blended at the beginning of a word, easily. This is difficult for some pupils and takes a lot of practice. These worksheets can assist by first encouraging students to blend the two consonant letters and then by helping them to hear the blend at the start of a word. As often as you can, practice blending the letters in each initial blend and encourage the students to follow suit. I find that modelling is key at this stage. Who are the initial blends Find and colour worksheets for? Young learners Those with a special need Due to their non-babyish nature, they can be successfully used with older ESL/EFL pupils.
