The Pilgrims and the Plymouth Settlement, Readers Theater

Here is a play to help deliver any lesson about the Pilgrims and their settlement in the Plymouth colony. I have enjoyed using this as a resource in my classroom for years.. Here is what is included in the play. It explains why the Pilgrims were in Holland, why they came to North America, events on board ship, and what happened after they arrived. Students like to be active in the classroom. This is an activity to get them up and moving! There are a number of roles for students. The voyage on the Mayflower seems fascinating to us but in reality it had to be very scary and very boring! However, there were some interesting events to take place on the voyage over. The play does identify why the people we call "Pilgrims" today were in Holland and why they felt the need to leave. Most of the major events on the voyage are covered in the play and even some of what the Pilgrims experienced in what we now call the state of Massachusetts. This works well as an engaging acivity for students. Overall, this takes about 15-20 minutes to complete and your students will love it! Phonics Strategies for 3rd & 4th Graders Part 2 is a 375-page product designed for students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade who are encountering advanced words in their educational and recreational reading, and need a program that goes beyond the beginning phonics building blocks. Just as later elementary students are getting older and more mature, this program has a more grown-up look. To keep the student’s attention, concepts are presented with multiple approaches including listening skills, identifying, decoding, written work, hands-on activities, pronunciation and spelling rules, letter-tile activities, phonics poems and phonics games. The phonogram types that are emphasized in Part 2 are: Vvc/Vvcc chunks, Vce chunks, and three and four-letter diphthong-vowel phonograms. There are hands-on activities for decoding words that end with ge/ve/ce/ze. 22 pages are devoted to advanced word endings (ture; ible/able; ous/ious/eous; tious/cious/scious; tial/cial/cian/science/cient, etc.). Worksheets on dividing words into syllables focus on three and four-syllable words. To aid the teacher/parent/mentor in presenting the material, included in Phonics Strategies Part 2 are: List of Contents, Tips and Suggestions, Reasons for Selected Content, Suggested Use, Mentor Notes, Phonics Pretest and six Parent Letters. The top of each activity page has Goals and Directions. The program can be presented by a teacher, teacher assistant, parent or mentor. Phonics Strategies for 3rd and 4th Graders is a mixture of phonics concepts and educational fun.

How to use the CVC Words Comprehension Worksheets From the earliest stages of reading, these reading comprehension worksheets can help children learn to read for meaning. Children should be competent at blending CVC words with a short vowel sound(e.g. cat/dog). The pop-up board project is another form of assessment tool that can be used to after the lessons about the biography of Steve Jobs. 7 Christmas Activities using the Python Programming Language

This resource includes 7 Christmas themed, stand alone activities for students learning how to program using Python. The activities go from basic activities to more complex tasks. Some of the skills and knowledge tested includes using input, FOR and WHILE loops, string manipulation, lists, exporting to an external file and importing from an external file. The seven activities are: Activity 1 - What do you want for Xmas? Santa asks a child their name and also asks what they want for Christmas. The child tells Santa their name and what they want for Christmas. Santa then replies with a sentence that includes the child’s name and what they want for Christmas. Activity 2 - Ho Ho Ho! Write a program that uses a FOR loop so that Santa can say “Ho Ho Ho” 100 times! Activity 3 - Make a Christmas Tree Activity 4 – Guess the Reindeer - Write a program that allows Santa to play a game of guess the name of the reindeer. Activity 5 – Are you on the “Nice” list? Write a program that only gives the child a present if they are on the “Nice” list. Activity 6 – Presents Database - Santa would like to set up a database that stores data about the present each child asks for. You will need to create a notepad file for this exercise. Activity 7 – Random Present Chooser - Your younger sister is going to see Santa in his Grotto. Santa has a choice of 8 gifts to give to your sister.

These adaptable PowerPoint Presentations can be used by the teacher in class to guide students through the topic - Boolean Logic. The teacher can use each slide to explain the concept in relation to computer programming. Alternatively, they can be used by the students independently to gain an understanding of how Boolean Logic is used in computer programming. Where required examples use the programming language Python. The resources includes 40 Slides that cover a range of topics including: The use of Simple Logic Diagrams that use AND, OR & NOT The use of Truth Tables - In Boolean logic, i.e. each statement is a comparison, and each comparison gives a Boolean value – True or False. This is an EDITABLE Sight Words Worksheets Resource that will allow you to create UNLIMITED number of worksheets as many times as you wish. WHAT IS INCLUDED one EDITABLE PDF file to make 10 worksheets at once up to 10-letter words creates limitless number of worksheets Students will: read the sight word color the sight word trace the sight word find the sight words among similar or any words you choose to use cut and paste the letters of the sight word to build it find the sight word in a sentence and write a sentence using the word HOW TO USE Enter the words, letters and sentences in the page of the document in the provided spaces, it takes no more than 5 minutes to do so, even less when you are used to it or when you copy and paste the sentences. Ten different worksheets are automatically generated. What I do is, make a copy every time I use it, include the words used in the name file, and save it. Then if I need to print a page for a specific word, I just search the folder for that word, find the file where it's at and print it. Also, you don't need to feel all the spaces to create worksheets . If you, for example, need pages for 1 or several words only, just feel in those spaces but make sure to add all the 10 words because they are used for the 'Find it' activity. Alternatively, you can go and add words in the missing spaces on the pages themselves. Then print only the pages you need and are filled. The option to add a page itself rather than the first page list, gives you the opportunity to add specific extra words to the 'Find it' activity.
