Of course, many older children enjoy coloring, so the coloring sheets can be used as a way to make the day more interesting, as a reward, or as a way to occupy busy minds after completing required assignments. Pre-readers will be able to participate by coloring the pages and can be guided by the teacher who can read the sentences and ask the questions verbally while the pre-reader is coloring the images on each page. Students who are reading and writing, or learning to read and write, will get further practice in developing their reading and writing skills. Students who are able will also be required to research the life of Saint Valentine. Students will learn about multiple historical Valentine persons, including one female. Students will not only develop research skills, but critical thinking skills as well, because many of the questions require them to think outside the box. Included in this activities pack: Challenging Crossword Puzzle with answer key included Not too easy Word Search with answer key included. 10 Coloring Pages, each with a question that can be answered verbally or in writing. Space is given for writing, or a separate sheet of paper may be used, depending on teacher preference. A Word Scramble Worksheet - Word Bank is included to help simplify if needed. Valentine's Day Vocabulary Crossword is a great resource for students to learn and practice vocabulary related to Valentine's Day. This crossword for elementary students is all about St. Valentine's Day! Students will be asked to recognize the word that goes with the picture presented. They will have to spell all the words correctly and place them in the provided spaces that match the number next to each word. There are 16 pictures on the resource, which means students will find 16 Valentines' Day related words to spell out into the crossword. Once they finish spelling words into the spaces provided, they will find a hidden message (Happy Valentine's Day). This resource can be used individually, in pairs, or groups. The class can then work together to make the list of words on the board and confirm the right spelling of all 16 words included in the resource. When working on pairs, students can divide the task between even and odd pictures so that each student has the same amount of words to figure out their spelling and locate into the crossword. When working in groups, students can complete the crossword individually, but within certain amount of time, be allowed to ask classmates in the group for help in completing their missing words. This should be a relaxing activity for students to spend time together while doing spelling 16 words related to Valentine's Day!
