Sight Word Fluency Packet - mother
ELA, Reading, Grade 2, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
These sight word worksheets encourage all students to practice sight word reading fluency for the target sight word. There are three different fluency practice pages that all focus on learning to recognize, spell, and read the target sight word in context. Allowing students to practice the sight word in context gives students the ability to connect the sight word's meaning and grammatical usage to help gain a greater understanding of the target word. Each passage repeats the target word multiple times for extra practice with the word. Students will practice reading, writing, reading comprehension, and spelling high frequency words with these fluency pages. Included in this sight word fluency packet: * One reading fluency page that contains a single passage for students to read and find the sight word. * One write and read fluency page where students will write the target sight word and then read the passage. * One read, write, and draw fluency page where students will read a sentence, copy the sentence then draw a picture to illustrate the sentence. When can these be used? * Literacy activities * Independent Reading Practice * Small group activities * Shared or Partner reading activities * Homework * Morning Work * Emergency sub plans * Extra reading practice The reading fluency page and the write and read page include the same passage and is the perfect way to differentiate between students who need to focus on just recognizing the word while reading and those who need more practice with writing and spelling the sight word in the correct context. These sight word pages are no prep. Teachers only need to print the pages and hand them to the students to read and complete. This packet focuses on the sight word: mother.

Moon vs. Earth
Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Space, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
During an astronomy unit or a time in science class where students are studying planets, you may want to find a variety of resources that will support their learning. This can be used with your elementary students in 2nd – 5th grade. The objective is for students to have a deeper understanding of the moon and the Earth and be able to identify the differences and similarities between the two. This is a short, sweet packet to use as you and your students explore the similarities and differences between the moon and Earth. I use the first page as a springboard for discussion about what the students notice about the two. There is an answer sheet for the second page and the third page gives one last visual that they’ve created to show the physical differences in a nutshell. I often pair this activity with the book If You Decide to Go to the Moon by Faith McNulty! I hope you enjoy! Reading Comprehension Passage with Questions: Camping
ELA, Reading, Reading Comprehension, Grade 2, 3, 4, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
This reading comprehension practice product includes a paragraph for students to read through and a worksheet to answer questions. The questions review the skills of what would be the best title, main idea, which detail doesn't belong, sequence of events, easier elapsed time, and a short writing component. The first three questions are multiple choice. There is a vocabulary question where students have to define a word. The sequence of events question has 5 sentences. Students have to rewrite the 5 sentences in the correct order they occurred in the passage. There are two questions relating to time. These are short answer questions. This is great review of elapsed time! The final question is open ended, and students are prompted to write in 4-5 complete sentences. This would be great to add to your substitute plans, use as a review whole class, or to give as a quick assessment. Since you want students to be able to complete this mostly on their own, it would be perfect for 3rd and 4th grades.

Wildfire Rescue Mission | Service, Bravery & Creative Problem Solving
ELA, Writing, Creative Writing, Grammar, Grade 2, 3, 4, 5, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets
Getting kids to enjoy writing during the early elementary years is key. One way we can do that is to tie in their interests to the writing process. Wildfires are a natural disaster that are, unfortunately, increasingly frequent. By using creative problem solving, learners will choose their main character, their setting, and how they'll resolve the problem. This particular activity is perfect for connecting a science unit on natural disasters to writing and empathy in social emotional learning. Thinking about the way we think is a foundational skill for growing the executive functions our kiddos will use in the editing process. For this reason, a short checklist has been included at the end of page 4 so that learners can begin to go back and check their work. This key skill in developing healthy executive functioning is intentionally made visible to students to prompt ownership over the quality of their writing. STANDARDS: Meets CCSS Writing standards for grades 2-5. Don't forget to pick up our DOZENS of writing activities from the shop. From Olympic events and resilience to birthday parties and crazy school days... we've got you covered! This printable is optimal for 2nd-5th graders who enjoy learning about space and demonstrating their knowledge of it. By using the included matrix to choose the setting, challenge, and characters in their story, they'll use the freedom afforded them to create something they love. *Note, some learners may require a basic explanation of what stocks, investments, and savings accounts are. BONUS: Take advantage of the 4 extension activity ideas included in this printable. These activities will take their writing beyond the page and bring it to life in STEAM-supported outlets. What you'll get: a 4 page PDF including instructions, extension activity ideas, and 3 student pages. One of these pages is simply writing space for you to print off as many copies as you need based on the amount your students are writing. You'll also find the editing checklist to prompt students to edit their own work for spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
