About This Product
Your grade 4 and grade 5 learners are going to have a monsterously good time practicing theirmultiplication skills with the learning activity. The best part is, they’ll be up and out of their seats accessing various parts of their brain through learning. The focus of this product is 1-digit and 2-digit multiplication. However, your learners will also work on concepts including rounding, 3-D shapes, and tally marks. At each station, they’ll read the instructions, use the corresponding cards to complete the task, and determine the characteristics of their monster. Once they have completed each station, learners will use the clues they collected along the way to draw a portrait of their monster. ELA extension activities are included as a bonus. With them, learners have the opportunity to organize and write a narrative or persuasion piece. You can also choose to have them write a cinquain or acrostic poem about their monster.
This is a great activity as an ice breaker for the beginning of the school year. It can also be used to showcase learners’ work for open house or as a fun, end of the year activity. All station instructions and corresponding cards are available in a color version, as well as a black and white version. Print/copy them onto cardstock and laminate for year over year use. After the initial prep, the rest of the activity is print and go. Take a look at the details of each page below.
