What is an area? What does it mean to find the area of a rectangle?

With this resource students will have the intro to area and be able to know the formula to solve for it.

Includes a total of 18 task cards with a task card recording sheet for students to practice their newly acquired skill

This is perfect introducing area and multiplication in a visual way for students to understand. Students will see that multiplying the number of rows times the number of unit squares in each row is easier and faster than counting the individual boxes.

Includes poster for your classroom in black and white and color as well explaining how to obtain the area of a rectangle. This practice will help make students more avid in multiplication. Can be used as worksheets or as task cards for math centers. For reuse simply laminate, punch hole the corner, place on a ring and use with erasable markers.
