How to Use:

Students will use these mats as a guide to build each 2D shapes out of clay or playdough. If the playdough mats are laminated, students can build their apple shape directly on the mat without fear that the playdough will stick. Otherwise, the apple shape can be built on a table top.

Where to Use:

  • Morning Tub or Basket - These playdough mats work well as a morning activity for students to work on as their classmates arrive to class.

  • Math Center - Place the mats in a math center for students to work on building each shape.

  • Small Group Activity - Teachers can pull aside small groups of students who need extra practice with creating 2D shapes or who need to build their fine motor skills.

These playdough mats are low prep. The teacher just needs to print off the cards, cut them apart and place them in the desired area of the classroom. Laminating is optional depending on how the teacher wants, or expects, students to build each apple shape. The teacher will only need to add the desired colored playdough for students to complete these playdough mats.
