Biofuel, Fossil Fuel Alternative: Environment Lesson Plan, Worksheet, Google App
About This Product
What is Biofuel? Biofuels are fuels that are created from organic material (biomass) either directly or indirectly.
Unlike traditional fossil fuels, biofuel is made from organic materials like plants or even animal waste. Biofuels are what provide us with bioenergy, which takes care of around 10 percent of the world’s energy needs and they can be in the form of either a liquid, solid, or gas.
Due to the updates in current technology and environmental science, biofuels can be extracted from a variety of materials; waste, wood, or crops, for instance. There are both primary and secondary biofuels.
Primary biofuels come from organic material that is used in its natural forms such as firewood, wood chips, or pellets. Secondary biofuels come from organic material that is processed such as bio-oil, ethanol, or biodiesel.
This lesson plan answers the following questions:
1.1 What is bioenergy? What is biofuel?
1.2 What are the different types of liquid biofuels for transport?
1.3 What are second-generation biofuels?
1.4 How much liquid biofuel could be produced?
