BLACK HISTORY MONTH ACTIVITIES - You've studied about Martin Luther King Jr, Black History Month and Famous Black Americans, now tie them in with cross curricular studies with this ABC order & Writing Unit.

Students will be reminded of the history of these 13 famous Americans; Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Ruby Bridges, Harriet Tubman, Jackie Robinson, Barak Obama, Thurgood Marshall, George Washington Carver, Jesse Owens, Frederick Douglas, Sojourner Truth, Booker T Washington and Henry Box Brown.

Each worksheet has the name and drawing of the famous person, along with vocabulary and images that remind us of this persons history. Students cut out the vocabulary words, sort them into ABC order (an alphabet strip is included on the page for students to se as reference when putting words in ABC order).

After ordering the vocabulary, they glue them in the correct order. You may want to allow them to add color when they are finished or to go on to the writing component of this activity. Pass out the writing worksheet that matches, they each have the same drawing of the famous person on it. Students choose a vocabulary word from their ABC order page and create a sentence using that word. After writing about 4 sentences, students can self edit their writing using the included self edit icons.
