Build A Turkey Fine Motor Activity
About This Product
Students will have a ton of fun counting and recognizing fall colors while they build their own playdough turkeys!
What is Included:
This resource contains instructions for a fun build a turkey activity. There are also counting feather cards to help students build their turkeys.
How to Complete:
Students will first build their turkey's body out of playdough. They will add two googly eyes and a triangle beak to the front of their turkey. They will then take one of the feather cards and add the correct number and color of feathers to their turkey's body.
If playdough is not an option, students can build turkeys out of clay, Styrofoam balls, or any substance that can either be shaped into a ball or allow for craft feathers to be poked inside.
Another fun variation for this activity is instead of using the feather cards, students can roll a die to see how many feathers of a particular color to add to their turkey.
When to Use:
Fine Motor or Math Center - Place the cards and materials in the center for students to build their turkeys.
Quiet Activity - Students can create a turkey quietly while their classmates nap.
Partner Activity - Students can work together to create a turkey.
This activity is a fun way for students to practice counting. They get to use their hands to build a turkey, which will help students stay engaged with the activity of counting.
The feather counting cards are low prep. They just need to be printed and cut apart. The teacher may laminate the cards for durability if desired. The cards can easily be stored in a task box with the colored feathers when not in use.
Skills Assessed:
This activity allows students to practice counting, matching colors, and build fine motor skills.
