Classification of Living Things - Digital Lesson and WebQuest Package

This 2-Day Classification of Living Things lesson package begins with an inquiry activity and is followed by an introduction to species classification/taxonomy. It then describes the 6 Kingdoms, taxonomy, how organisms are named, and ends with a description of dichotomous keys and how they're used. The lesson ends with an overview of how to create a dichotomous and an activity where the students get to apply what they have learned. The package also contains a WebQuest on the 6 Kingdoms which is a great way to get the kids engaged and interested in the topic.

The student version of the presentation contains multiple blanks that need to be filled in throughout the lesson. These blanks are conveniently underlined and bolded on the teacher copy. I have found this to be the most effective means of keeping my students engaged and active without having them write everything out. This also leaves more time for discussion and activities.
