About This Product
π«π· Halloween French Number Domino Game
Numbers and Number Words 0β30
This domino set offers a seasonal way to practice French numbers and number words from 0 to 30. I first used it with a beginner French group in October, and it was a simple but effective way to bring some holiday spirit into the classroom while still focusing on vocabulary. The familiar domino format meant that students could understand the rules right away, so we could spend more time practicing the language and less time explaining.
The resource includes two complete domino sets with 68 cards in total. The first version pairs numerals with the full French number words, while the second version shows the number words broken into syllables. This syllable version is especially helpful for early readers or for students who hesitate with longer words like dix-huit or vingt-neuf. I found that it gave them more confidence to read aloud without stumbling.
You can adapt the game easily to different levels. For beginners, I often use only the 0β10 range. As students progress, I expand to 0β20 or 0β30. Having these built-in options makes it simple to differentiate within the same class.
The game itself can be played at desks, in small groups, or even spread out on the floor if you want to give students more space and movement. Some groups like to race to finish the chain quickly, while others take a slower pace, checking each word as they go. Either way, students stay engaged and get repeated practice with the vocabulary.
This activity works well in French immersion programs, FSL classes, or bilingual settings. It can be used as part of a math center with a language twist, for partner practice, or as a light seasonal activity during October.
Preparation is minimal: just print the cards, cut them, and laminate if you want them to last for several years. Once prepared, they store easily in a small envelope or box for quick use in future lessons.
The entire game is in French, with teacher instructions provided in English/French.
