For those teachers who are looking for a fun and interactive way to work with their students on a map of the United States, look no further. Students will have an opportunity to practice their ability to place/name states using methods that will allow for greater memory retention. The kinesthetic learner will truly enjoy learning this way and thus, more students will do better on future assessments.
This resource can be used for current work/learning, at home practice, or as an assessment tool (diagnostic, summative or formative). The resource is not grade specific and thus, can be used across multiple grades.
Student map work includes:
Drag and drop the states into each appropriate place to create a map of the United States
Drag and drop the states into each appropriate place to create a map of the United States - using state abbreviations
Label each state by typing the appropriate abbreviation in each state's text box
Drag and drop the correct state abbreviation on each respective state
Drag and drop to properly locate each state capital
Answer questions using the compass rose - pertaining to north/south/east/west
All on Google Slides™ to incorporate with your Google Classroom™ or on technology within the classroom. It is also great practice as homework. This can be used on computers or tablets.
Have them try putting the United States back together! A great activity that will get them thinking and experimenting with the puzzle-like pieces. (Two versions) I have included tips on how to best use the puzzle pieces as some states, especially when using a tablet. An example of a tip being: hold down the ALT key when making small moves.
