About This Product
Here is a brand new edition of my popular grocery game. There are three rounds (Back to School, Halloween, and Thanksgiving) with five food items each! This game allows students to practice estimating, adding, and multiplying with decimal numbers in a fun and engaging way!
It is a fun, whole class activity that you need to be able to project in your classroom on an interactive whiteboard or screen-share for distance learning.
As students play along, they practice estimating to stay within a shopping budget. They have to multiply and add with decimal numbers: all helpful realistic applications.
Since this is a PowerPoint Presentation, you are able to move the boxes covering the price of each item after students make their guess: just like a real game show!
Grades to Use With:
This is a fun game for grades 3-6 when you are studying money, grocery shopping, and decimal operations. Even kids in middle school will have fun playing along!
Standards:
CCSS5.NBT.B.7
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.
CCSS6.NS.B.3
Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation.
CCSS4.NF.C.7
Compare two decimals to hundredths by reasoning about their size. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two decimals refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with the symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual model.
