Learning Goals for Primary + Intermediate Students
About This Product
This is a packet for your students to develop Learning Goals.
There is a primary goal and an intermediate goal included.
Teaching students the importance of setting goals for themselves should start early. This is a simple activity for little ones to do when learning about goal setting. They will reflect on their strengths and on skills at which they should improve. They will even consider their teacher’s perspective.
The learning goals printable for primary learners is a 1-page printable that consists of 3 writing prompts. The prompts are:
1. I’m a super star at…
2. I would like to get better at…
3. My teacher’s goal for me is…
Prior to having young students complete this hand-out, I would lead with a whole group discussion about the importance of goal setting, why it matters, how we work towards achieving our goals, and the different ways we can measure mastery of our goals. Allow students the time and space to discuss with partners or small groups. Assist students who need the extra help with setting their goals. This is offered as a PDF and an editable PowerPoint.
As students get older, it is important for them to learn how to set goals that are best for them as individuals. This activity is a good way to get students started at setting their own SMART goals.
The learning goals printable for intermediate students is a 1-page printable that consists of an acronym for SMART. This comes as an editable PowerPoint, so students can type their goals in.
The goal setting prompts are:
S – Your goal is Specific. Who, what, when, where, why?
M – Your goal is Measurable. You will know when you’ve met it.
A – Your goal is Attainable. You can achieve it.
R – Your goal is Relevant. It applies to your wants and needs.
T – Your goal is Time-bound. There is an end in sight.
