What fun to see young children learning to read!

This leveled book collection includes 40 fiction and non-fiction books (20 at Level A and 20 at Level B) to inform beginning reading. This set of books covers reading readiness skills and additional reading skills to propel your students on the wonderful journey of reading!

The books can be used individually, in smaller group settings, or as a whole class activity.

The content of the books includes topics in Social Studies, Science, and Math while recognizing auxiliary subjects as well. ELA skills and common core grade-level standards help guide the actual text: they are identified for the student and teacher at the top of each story; key vocabulary words are underlined throughout the story to boost understanding. The objectives and specific sight words/vocabulary are reinforced throughout the Student Activity Pages (at the end of each book). Here, students practice skills in copying, spelling, reading readiness/beginning reading, and writing.

This is the first group of leveled books (a total of 81 pages) written by author Sue Peterson. She has written over a total of 450+ leveled books at all elementary grades. They are available on this site as individual titles (some of them), within thematic collections (many of them), or in grade-level collections (all of them). Mrs. Peterson's wish is to have children enjoy reading and become lifelong learners.
