Pumpkin Counting 1-10 Activities

Look no further! This set of 8 learning activities is just what you need to engage your Pre-K and Kindergarten learners in practicing essential math concepts. From start to finish they will enjoy practicing counting from 1-10 with these festive hands-on activities. Moreover, they’ll strengthen their skills in 1-to-1 correspondence, number recognition, small motor skills, following directions, identifying color words, and reading. They are the perfect addition to your math curriculum as they correspond with state standards and bring an element of fun to the Fall season. Use them in whole class learning, small groups, or in a one-on-one setting. Not only that, but after a bit of initial prep work, the activities can be used year-over-year. While the Power Point slides are in full color, the remaining activities are available in both color and black & white.

PAGES 1-2: Set of 10 jack o’ lantern cards for learners to count and match to the corresponding number card.

PAGES 3-4: Set of 10 number cards for learners to use in several of the learning activities. Cards include the numeral and corresponding number word.

PAGE 5: Full-page pumpkin ten frame in which learners can place pumpkin seeds, other manipulatives, or hand draw pumpkin seeds to match the number card they chose.

PAGE 6: Full-page pumpkin patch on which learners can hand draw pumpkins or place orange dough pumpkins to match the number card they chose.

PAGES 7-11: Half-page cards on which learners will trace the number inside the pumpkin and count the corresponding pumpkin seeds.

PAGES 12-21: Full-page pumpkin with which learners will identify the number and place the corresponding number of pumpkin seeds inside the pumpkin.

PAGE 22: Full-page pumpkin with which learners will draw a number card and place the corresponding number of pumpkin seeds inside the pumpkin.

PAGES 23-28: Half-page emergent reader titled, “I See Jack O’ Lanterns,” in which learners will practice reading and counting jack o lanterns with various emoji faces.

PAGES 29-34: Half-page interactive emergent reader titled, “I See Jack O’ Lanterns,” in which learners will practice reading and counting jack o lanterns with various emoji faces. Additionally, learners will practice writing their name on each page, as well as identifying color words, and following directions.

POWER POINT SLIDES 1-21: Learners will follow Max the mouse as he counts pumpkin seeds in Farmer Brown’s pumpkin patch. Ten of the slides will show a number and a group of pumpkin seeds. If the number and seeds match, learners will show a “thumbs up”. If the number and seeds do not match, learners will show a “thumbs down”.
